Our Connoisseur's Club can benefit and save you money on events such as Gourmet Dinners, Wine Tastings...

  • How do you pronounce the name of your stores?
Well, our stepfather, Mike Berbiglia started in the wine and spirits business in 1934. His last name is pronounced (Ber-bil-ya), NOT (BER-BIG-LEE-A). It is an Italian last name where the "G" is silent.
  • When I order a glass of "Zinfandel" in a restaurant, why do I get a glass of red wine, when it's always pink?
Well, what you meant to order was a glass of "White Zinfandel" not The True "Zinfandel". Zinfandel is a dry red wine, but "White Zinfandel" is made from the same grape but the skins of the grape are separated from the juice right after they are crushed giving the wine a pink color.
  • What wines do I drink with certain foods?
Well, it is true that certain wines go better with certain foods, i.e. seafood and Sauvignon Blanc or steak and Cabernet. But, our father always said "drink what you like, don't drink it if you don't like it." If you don't like Cabernet, don't drink it!
  • How many glasses of wine are in a regular size (750ml) bottle?
What we always tell the customer is that there is 25.4 ounces of wine in a bottle and a regular sized wine glass is 6 1/2 ounces. So we say that you can get 5 - 5 ounce glasses to a bottle of wine.
  • I hear that Red Wine is good for your health, but I don't like dry wine. Do you have a sweet red wine?
The answer is "yes" and our most popular wine is made right here in the state of Missouri. My friend Curtis Bourgeois, owner of Les Bourgeois Wines in Rochport, Missouri is famous for his "River Boat Red"
  • When talking about Champagne or Sparkling wine, why is a "Brut" dryer than an "Extra Dry"?
The French definition of "Brut" or "dry" means unmodified or no dosage (a wine and sugar mixture) or the driest a sparkling wine can be. "Extra Dry or (Extra Trocker): 12 - 20 grams of sugar per liter is slightly sweeter than Brut.
