Taft Street Wines back in KC!

After a year without one of our favorite wineries in Kansas City, Taft St. wines are back! Berbiglia was asked to carry some of Sonoma's finest wines once again. Mr. Paul Hect, Sales Manager for Taft St., introduced the new vintages of Taft St. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc during his recent trip to Missouri. We were so pleased with the quality of all three wines that we ordered them on the spot to bring back to KC. The Sonoma County Chardonnay 2006 is fruit driven shows lush apple and nectarine tones. Light oak finishes are persistent through this wonderful wine. I had a glass of chardonnay at Ruth's Chris the other night that was three times the money that was not as good as this one!
The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2006 is as good as it gets! A cool climate is perfect for growing pinot noir and this wine shows luscious aromas of blackberry, vanilla and spice with wonderful fruit flavors. A balanced acidity brings the wine into harmony with a long and elegant finish.
The Russian River Sauvignon Blanc 2006 is awesome! One of my favorites from Taft St. This bright and lively wine shows flavors of citrus and melon and continues through the palate and to a lingering finish.
Try these wines as they are in my stores this week. They wont last long!
Enjoy!

My trip to Weston, Missouri and Pirtle Winery

Take a trip up to Weston, Missouri and visit our friends at Pirtle Winery! Mr. and Mrs Pirtle make some of the finest meads in the world along with Apple, Cherry, Blueberry, Mellow Red and a great Port. I recently took a drive up to Weston to visit the winery and taste some of the wonderful wines. Mrs. Patricia Pirtle, a dear friend of the family for over 30 years, was recently in a car accident and could not be at the winery but her great staff was very helpful and informative in my tasting. I tasted most of their meads and wines with my favorite being the Apple Wine and the Port.
After my tasting, I walked across the street to The Vineyards Restaurant and had a lovely lunch with my children. We all sampled each others fabulous entrees which included an Open Faced Balsamic Braised Beef Sandwich, Grilled Filet of Beef Tenderloin with Shallots and Mushroom Burgundy Sauce, Lemon Chicken Picata Pasta and a Tenderloin of Pork with Maple, Dijon and Molasses Sauce.
Kathleen at The Vineyards was a lovely host at this quaint historic restaurant.
Take a day and visit these two great landmarks just minutes from KC.
PS. The Pirtle Apple Wine went great with the Braised Beef!
